Design Philosophy

SuperOffice is not like other software – it is not just a bunch of fields on a screen. It is put together with care and attention to detail. It is designed.

What's so special about the SuperOffice design?

It's Simple
Even though SuperOffice is a powerful software tool, it's as simple to use as counting 1-2-3.  The user interface is designed to hide complexity and to anticipate your needs.

For example, if you first look at an appointment with “Smith & Jones Inc”, and then go to the company information panel, then SuperOffice will automatically pull up the information “Smith & Jones Inc”, without any action on your part. If you want another company, then the history list of your recently viewed companies is just a click away.

SuperOffice tries to fill in details for you based on your context.

Say you are looking at the Marketing Planning project, and you want to have a meeting, you click a button to create a new appointment.

SuperOffice autocompletes and remembers for you, thus limiting the number of clicks required to perform frequent tasks.

The appointment is automatically linked to the project you are looking at. Another couple of clicks and all the project members are invited to the meeting.

It's Friendly

SuperOffice takes business seriously.  We realize that you spend a lot of time looking at the SuperOffice screen during your working day, so it should be clean, clear, calm and useful.

What do we mean by this?

  • We don't force you to learn commands to use the system.  You get what to do just by looking at the screen.
  • Buttons are clear and colorful, without being garish.  They are clearly labeled, so you don’t have to memorize what the picture of a building really means.
  • SuperOffice fills in sensible defaults, so that you don’t have to type or click as much.
  • The most pertinent information is easily discovered, while more details are hidden behind a tab.
  • We use tooltips extensively to make the hidden detail information float up when you ask for it.

For example, looking at Star Communications, you can see they have some interests checked off, because a little red mark shows on the Interests tab.

Just hovering the mouse-pointer over the Interests tab brings up a tooltip showing which interests are checked off.

The use of Tool Tips can be applied throughout the software, helping people to know what something means as well as limiting the number of clicks required.

Good things come in small packages.  And, just because a checkbox is small, doesn’t mean it can’t have a big effect.

For example, SuperOffice has has a checkbox for “Stop” on the company card. What “Stop” means is up to you, but it is usually used to indicate that the customer is not active any more, that they have stopped being a customer.

With a stopsign visualised like this, your colleagues certainly will check for information before taking action.

Instead of just displaying the checkbox, SuperOffice makes this rather important information clearly visible, in much the same way you would mark an index card with a red marker.

It's Open

SuperOffice is not a closed system. We realize that you already have many  applications that know lots about your business. You may have accounting, ERP and business intelligence software that you already use.

Instead of trying to do everything, SuperOffice opens its windows to the rest of the world, making it easy for you to integrate views from your other systems into the SuperOffice user interface.

  • You can add web pages into SuperOffice without programming.
  • If your ERP system supports it, you can set it up so that ERP information merges seamlessly into the SuperOffice GUI.
  • The SuperOffice Expander SDK allows programmers to further customize the SuperOffice system.

With this example, SuperOffice automatically finds the location of the current contact card, in this case retrieved from Multimap. This is but one example on how to visualise information from other sources.
